Perfectly Imperfect

And there we were
Laying under the stars in silence
Wanting to speak but neither of us tried
It’s a short moment but a real moment
It’s seared in my mind
We’re perfectly imperfect together
Just like the alignment of the planets
Right before they go down behind the mountain
And the North Star is once again the brightest one of the night
Its perfect imperfection when were together
Like the second star to the right
The second brightest but the most honorable of the night

Once again we lay here
Fingers laced and our minds relaxed
Because we don’t have to think about anything
And we don’t have to do anything
No movements, no voices, just thoughts and silence
And it seems better that way, at least for now
But only for now I suppose
A long kiss and quiet goodnight says everything in the end
And as imperfect as we may have been
We were perfect right then
