A tiny rose of no concern
Blooming in an angel’s hands
Her face uplifted to the sky
All alone she stands

Is she awaiting the return
Of someone long forgot
His grave no longer visited
His body left to rot

Maybe he left to fight a war
And failed to return
And now she’s guarding his resting place
Until the day it’s her turn

She likely loved him with all her heart
As much as I did you
A figure dressed up all in black
As I’d hoped I’d never have to

Why’d you leave me all alone?
Why’d you have to die?
To trade your life on earth with me
And fly up to the sky

I miss you more than anything
And when I learned you’d died
It broke my heart a thousand times
And with all my heart I cried

But even though you’ve passed away
My love for you is still true
So save me a halo and a pair of wings
‘Till I’m once again with you.
