To Forgive And Forget...

Here I stand in the pouring rain
Trying so hard to get painful memories out of my brain
But they're burned into my mind
Their scars have made me blind
I can't see
how happy I used to be
Their confusion has left me hollow and emotionless
There's so many things I want to confess
But every time I open my mouth
Nothing comes out
I'm a statue frozen in time
I'm a story older than tale or rhyme
There's so many faces that I hate
Their apologies came too late
Because now I'm a shadow haunting their dreams
No one can hear my screams
As I fall and never hit the ground
I fly but I never come down
My blood boils
As the truth unfolds
As I look at the people I know and trust
Their love was never enough
Now I have to make a choice
To listen to a lonely voice
I have to decide whether to forgive and forget the pain
Or to let them hurt me again
