Guilty to the world

My hands are bound in iron
Linked with bands of steel
For I’m guilty of some heinous crime
Though that’s not how I feel

I never knew the man I stabbed
I never saw his face
Until the day they through me here
In this forsaken place

So I sit here all alone
In a cart they have me bound
For though I’ve done no wrong at all
It’s guilty I’ve been found

They take me out and lead me
To a platform raised up high
Through crowds of gaping people
Is this how I’ll have to die?

They ask me for my final words
And to the crowd I say
“I’ll have never touched a blade before,
Until it dawns today.”
