A Sunless Day

Wake me up when the sun is gone
And the mighty generals have a dropped their bomb
Wake me up as all life floats away
Wake me up on a sunless day

And tell me why must the sun shine?
And tell me why can’t I just die?
And there has to be another way
Just wake me up on a sunless day

And tell me why the cat’s depressed
And the neighbors outside scream as we get undressed
It seems like the end of the world has come and gone
And yet still the sun must live on

Who are we to whisper of life
Or walk together as poltergeists
Together we will lie awake waiting for a sunless day
And just tell me why the sun must shine
Or why the dead mumble lies

Forever in a self made tomb
We lay together and speak the truth
Just wake me as life floats away
Wake me up on a sunless day
