Game On The Line

I got up to bat with the game on the line
"Here it is, another big chance to shine."
I stepped up to the plate and got my feet all set
"Hit the ball hard and then run like a jet."

The pitch was delivered too high and outside
"Give me a good pitch and I'll give it a ride."
The second pitch came to my favorite spot
As I swung I thought, "Please don't let this get caught,"

The ball sailed over third and over left field
It was a fair ball, my dreams were fulfilled
As I rounded first base I could hear the crowd cheer
We had worked hard for this state title all year.
