Goodbye

I look at you,
but you turn away,
thinking of things,
I'll never say,
as awkward silence
fills the air,
as my loving gaze
becomes a hateful stare.
I don't wait for your comment,
I don't wait for a goodbye,
inside myself I'm dieing,
on the outside I cry.
Our love has lasted so long
and you end it like this,
the hate I have inside for you,
will surely turn to bliss.
You slowly stand and stare,
at the ground where you belong,
inside I think I always knew,
this was doomed all along.
My hands begin to tremble,
as I turn away to see,
the ring on my finger,
the one you gave to me,
I take it and throw it at your feet,
just so you can see,
all of the things you have left,
everything but me.
I calm myself,
and walk away,
thinking of things,
I'll never say.
