Admitting to Myself

The colors fly by at seventy miles per hour
She’s hypnotized by the drive home
He doesn’t even notice her sudden silence
She doesn’t even notice that he’s alone
He looks at her, knowing there’s something more
She sees him different than once before
His mind races with what she won’t share
She’s left with no choice; she has to care
His hand finds hers, but it’s icy and cold
A double glance to make sure she isn’t dead
Her eyes find his, but there is no hold
A turn away to rest her aching head

and this is the last you’ll have of me my love
there are no words between us any more
and I wish to god that I could scream out my lungs
that I love you the same as I always have before
I don’t know how much more is left of what we have
but any other girl will be a waste of your time
and I’m letting everything go as best as I can
because you’re no longer worth any of mine
and I’m ready to just let it all pass me by
but there are still so many things that I just can’t deny

And I want nothing more than to be something of yours
Because you are still everything of mine; you are my whole world
And I’d give it all within a heartbeat
That of which I can still feel yours pounding
Please tell me that I drive you that crazy, baby…
Because that’s exactly what you do to me
I’m just hanging, waiting for the day
That you’ll ask me to run away
And when that moment comes
I’ll still be right here to say
That I’d follow you to the ends of the earth and back again
Just so long as you’ll hold my hand
