Life Goes On

The past is painful, hard to think
My mind is full as though it will soon sink
From the looks of it I'm all well
But my heart reveals what I cannot tell
Everybody says that life goes on
But in some cases I think they're wrong

If you could see what I've been through
If you had to watch what I had to do
Your face would change it's shape and form
Your smile would not be fake but warm
You'd know that my light could not stay dim
And you'd realize how strong I've really been

Life goes on is the word on the street
If you don't believe that then you're suddenly weak
My tears still fall when I'm forced to remember
The past is vivid, even last December
It seems your sympathy should reach a new height
Once you realize just how tough was our fight

If you could see what I've been through
If you had to watch what I had to do
Your face would change it's shape and form
Your smile would not be fake but warm
You'd know that my light could not stay dim
And you'd realize how strong I've really been
