Her lungs are about to burst
as she screams her guts out
she's always at her very worst
another victim of self-doubt
She bangs her head into the wall
pound it over and over again
into a world that's numb to it all
into her world that's always been

She leans back and closes her eyes
holding her breath as she's swept away
losing herself in a moment of time
a thousand words but nothing to say
She lives her life in her own solitude
as perfection continues passing her by
she shows no evidence of any gratitude
why does everything have to be such a lie?

She never apologizes. She never explains.
she never considers anyone but herself.
she's always at fault. she's always in shame.
she's always been one to think for herself.
She never laughs. She never smiles.
she lives in her own broken heart.
she never cries- at least it's been awhile-
underneath it all, she's falling apart

Dead dry eyes blink once again
as a tear travels it's path down her cheek
winter inside has reached it's end
as she finds herself vulnerable and weak
Her heart is floating; no longer alone
she's on a permanent natural high
her flesh is warming from skin to bone
as this new feeling sweeps her by

Should she cry? Or should she laugh?
at one time, both seemed so far away
should she shout? Or should she dance?
a thousand words but nothing to say
Her lungs are about to burst
as she screams out to really no one
so in love with life, it hurts
so exstatic to simply be in love
