Lonely Hearts Check-out

Lonely Hearts Check-out,
would you read the sign?
Hand me a cigarette
while we wait in line.

I've seen you before,
I think to myself.
You're three spots ahead,
but I can just tell.

You've got less items
and you'll quickly get out.
I've got a full cart
but I'll make it somehow.

Lonely Hearts Check-out,
the light's blinking off.
Another busy day,
another night gone.

I know where I've seen you,
as I take one more drag.
We've been here before
on a cold autumn day.

It's summer now,
I think I've made room.
If we put our things together
we'll be leaving soon.

Lonely Hearts Check-out,
let's take one more chance.
Let's leave with each other
and not bash romance.

Lonely Hearts Check-out,
we won't look back.
We won't be returning,
once gone hand-in-hand.
