Daddy's Little Girl

I think of all the times we shared
Remembering every moment he showed he cared
I turn to look back into the full-length mirror
Bringing my thoughts back to reality and realizing I'm really here
Staring deep into my very own reflection
Thinking this is what every woman thinks of as perfection
Hair done as glamorous as could be
Five people in the room here just for me
My mother and four of my very best friends
Who are yet still here to the very end
As I apply the last glide of gloss upon my lips
I think back again on our relationship
Daddy was always there, so confident in me
His only daughter, who he only wanted to be happy
Now in the mirror I wear the prettiest gown
Only thing missing from my head is a crown
I pick up my flowers and hold them gently in my hand
Thankful that daddy would always understand
Daddy's little girl forever, but not anymore
Now I'm walking up to these two big doors
And suddenly Daddy's by my side, take my arm
Once more protecting me against any harm
And as the doors slowly open, he looks straight into my eyes
And one small tear falls as Daddy silently begins to cry
I'm walking down the aisle now as people turn to look
Try to force a smile for precious pictures they've already took
Daddy no slowly slips his arm away from mine
While he looks at his baby girl one last time
Then he smiles and whispers "I love you, and you look beautiful today"
Before he finally turns and quietly walks away
That's when I turn and stare into another man's eyes
While I'm both smiling and crying deep inside
Thank you Daddy, and I love you too...
My final thoughts before whispering "I do."
