Where Have You Been Daddy?

Never here
At this place we both call home
Where have you been
In the past

Seeing the perfection you always imagined
You look at me
But you're not seeing
Everything I've become

You see your little daughter
In footy pajamas with a teddy bear
When a simply smiled
Let you know I care

You can't run from the present forever
You can't keep pretending you don't see my pain
You can't expect me to stay a child forever

Maybe if you tried
You could like me
Could love me
Could accept me as your daughter

I'm drowning under the surface
But you see floaties and a big smile
I guess we haven't talked in a while

Dad you're never here
At this place I call home
Why are you still
In the past
