To My Love

I remember the first day,
We hung out at the park.
I stayed with you,
Until well after dark.

My only hesitation,
Was out of fear of getting hurt.
Then I relized you were serious,
And not just another flirt.

I saw that the bad boy act,
Only went skin deep.
And I knew you wern't another guy,
That would just make me weep.

My love for you,
Is so strong in my heart.
It will last past the day,
When we grow old and depart.

It will last forever,
No matter what you say.
Even if the day comes,
When you go your own way.

And if that day,
Does not come.
I will find a happy song,
To sing and hum.

In fact, I hope that day,
Will never come near.
It's what I dread,
It is my greatest fear.

Many sweet things are said,
About loving me forever.
I hope many years from now,
That thought, you'll still remember.

There will be many tough times,
That will tumble our way.
But it will only make us stronger,
With each passing day.

For love from the heart,
Goes deeper than the grave.
It's more beautiful than a rose,
And darker than any cave.

Now I'll end this poem,
With words of advice.
Don't depend on luck,
Or the roll of the dice.

Compromize and forgiveness,
Are the two things to trust.
With this, our love,
Will never turn to dust.
