The Lines

He thinks of all the lines
Hoping one will work
He feels surrounded by beautiful women
He’s slowly learning that
"I lost my teddy bear, will you sleep with me?"
Won’t get him through
It’s just another slap in the face
If you ask them for their sign
They’re bound to walk away
He tries his hardest but nothing seems to work
Half away through the night
He sits at the bar nursing a martini and his battle wounds
And someone comes up and asks what’s the matter?
He looks up and feels stunned
By the beauty of a woman with a heart
And pretends he was just dumped
Some thoughtless girl told him to come for a good time
Only to end up letting him down
She wraps her arms around him
And takes him to her car
She promises to show him a good time
He learns that lying works better then the lines
