Off the Pavement

You picked me off the pavement,
before you tore my heart in two.
You said I could have anything,
anything but you.

Each time I turn around,
I hate you even more.
You were the most innocent
girl, I ever saw.

I repeated to myself,
That someday I’d love you,
And still I told myself,
that you would love me too.

But those days never came around,
And those dates never fell.
your eyes so lively and so pure.
your skin, a hollow shell.

I told myself, that I would have
nothing to do with you.
But when I see you I forget that,
you tore my heart in two.
