An Overdue Change

The bugs are eaten by the crows,
Not because they are angry, they say,
That's just the way it goes.

The big fish eat the small,
It's given no thought,
None at all.

But what if someday,
The ants and the guppies,
Stood their ground, said, "No way!"

Would any of it matter?
Would anything change?
Would there be reason for all that clatter?

If just one bug were not eaten,
A battle would be won,
A bird would be beaten.
