Dirt

Walking the halls
Of my high school
Staring around
Could I possibly feel more blue
Than I do at this moment?
They hold hands
As a hole is burned into my heart
I can feel the emptiness
As it spreads on the inside
No one to wipe the tears that I cry
Alone
Walking with the fakest smile
I can taste the bittersweet lies
As they roll from my tongue
Flying into the world
Making their own life
A fallen angel
Looking up from beneath
I can see the dirt
That lurks within them all
The smell of new shed blood
Surrounding all of their feet
I see myself
In a better view
Standing still
As they all move
I reach out to push me
But only fall right through
But the wind is there to catch me
And carry me on my way
Like a message in a bottle
Waiting for someone to find me
To hold my hand
The way they do
To make my smile true
Maybe the ringing in my ears
Will fade some
Maybe all the lies
Will go away
And I can start fresh
Yet alone I am
In a haunted house
Full of familiar faces
I watch from underneath
I am the dirt
At their feet
