Lousy Words

I put all hope in lousy words
Written on paper for all to see
Yet with one flick of fire
My soul would cease to be
Every emotion I have felt
Placed down in a form
Synchronized neatly
Yet thrown out like the storm
One word, three syllables
Seven syllables, two lines
Two lines defining life
Saying the world will be fine

Faith in words of little substance
Crying at the sight of their life
Rejoicing when read by men
Weeps when ripped by a knife
So easily deleted from a memory
Erased from notebook
Forgotten by the world around
Gone without a second look
One minute, six days
Five days, one year
One life written down on paper
Destroyed by a lousy tear.
