We wait, we pray

You have come and gone.
It only seemed like yesterday you were here.
I know you had to go, but nobody wanted you to go.
You said you would be back in a few months;
the months you were gone seemed like forever;
and now we wait, we pray.

Time will pass, but not fast enough to have you here, safe.
We can see and talk to you, but its not the same as havin' you here.
Time will come when we will see you again, but for now we wait, we pray.

As days go by, we remember all the memories
that we had together as a family.
You may be a million miles away,
but you are with us in mind, soul, and heart.
As days go by we hope you hear all our prayers;
come home safely and now we wait, we pray.
