Just a Girl that you Forgot

I don't understand it
I'm afraid I never will
But how do we keep on going
when you stand so still

You make no slight gesture
no movement towards the gate
And all I'm left to question
"Is my love for you too late?"

I try to coax you forward
maybe my bribes will do the trick
I can promise you nothing perfect
but I will promise my love will stick

So will you come with me
on this journey only two can overcome
A journey through this putrid world
where both you and I are from

This world, I know corrupted us
put our hearts behind steel bars
But we can't let it stop us
from reaching towards the stars

Every day you slip into a slumber
where I am left to daze
Upon your glued shut eyelids
"is this how karma pays?"

The days keep on passing us by
and yet we have gone no where
Is my love for you strong enough
to overcome your innate fear

Will I ever understand you
I know for sure, I will not
But as I stand watching you
I realize I am just a girl that you forgot
