Bitter Endings

This day always comes
Push the air
Out of your lungs

The hint of heartbreak
Lingers in the air
It's not heavy
But it makes it so hard to breathe

The silence is enough
To choke you
So many things to say
But another inhalation
Takes up the space instead

There aren't words
To describe this emotion
You turn to her
And watch as the slow tears
Run down her sullen face

You turn away
Unable to watch her sorrow unfolding
She opens her mouth
And the words wrap around your entire being
She swallows
And whispers,
"Why don't you love me anymore?"
