I had a dream where I was chasing this girl down a crowded hallway
She was screaming the words I think, but don't dare say
She had a gun in her hand
Waving it around like it was a toy
Yelling about hypocrites, broken hearts, and boys
I'm pushing my way through throngs of people who are pretending not to see
I scream "someone help her, she needs you, please!"
But my words fall deaf on their ears
I chase her to the stairwell, and see my biggest fear
The guns to her head, finger on the trigger
Someone wake me up from this nightmare
I can't bare to see such pain
It's driving me insane
"Please stop! No! Put the gun down!"
"You have so much to live for, there's another way out of your mess, I
swear!"
"Please just don't do it, I care!"
The girl stops running, puts the gun down, and turns around
It's like looking into a mirror
Those eyes, that nose, they all look familiar
That shirt, those shoes, that knowing smile
Suddenly I realize that all the while
I'd been chasing me, trying to save me from myself
She looked at me and said
"You always try to be the hero, and save someone else.
Well sometimes you gotta be your own hero
Congratulations you just saved yourself"
Then she takes me hand and...
And I wake up
