One more drink,
You’ll swear you’re through,
But does it ever add up to you
To be enough?
From the looks of these bottles,
I’d say there never is
“Too much.”

One last shot,
You promise me that.
You’ll even state it as a fact,
But I know better.
You say you like the way you feel,
But, darling, can’t I make
You happy, too?

One final kiss,
And then no more.
Before you know it, you’re on the floor
And not with me.
But I let it go, say I don’t mind
Because I can’t bear to
Live without you.

One ending lie,
And then we’re done.
I know I’m not your “only one.”
So you can stop now.
Your façade, the role you play,
The game we have become—
I see it.

One last line
Read by the cast
And you’ll just be part of my past,
And I’ll be glad.
I’m tired of dead eyes, no emotion.
You seem to save it for others,
Never me.

One closing “I love you”
And then I’ll stop giving
In and start living.
But when you roll around,
No last dance, no curtain call;
For you and me, it’s always
One more…
