My Unforgettable Past

(This is a true poem based on what happened when I was a just little girl.
I'm now 19 yrs old and it still hurts me til this very day.)

My past back then is an unforgettable one,
I was too young so there was nothing I could have done.
When I was 5, my daddy used to whip me and beat me with belts and switches,
Its a wonder that I didn't have to get stitches.
He'd grab me with the grip of his arm,
Spin me around and then whip me with the force of his belt which did some
harm.

All the time I was covered in red whipmarks and bruises,
He tried to steal my childhood from me,
But he wasn't going to take that, do ya'll understand and see?
Despite all the whippings and beatings that I had to take,
Indeed I was so very brave.
It took a lot of courage for me to say what I had to say,
But my unforgettable past is still hurting me til this day.
