Silence echoes in the room and yet noise never ceases
Fruitless are the efforts to quell the rushing tide of thought

The pain is undetectable yet undeniable
A smile and an easy laugh ably mask the truth

Joy and happiness gave way to fear and distress long ago
Faintly lit are the memories of a hope that once was

Shadows creep over every inch of light
Infinite darkness takes root

Resolve crumbles
And the will to hold on is lost
