Smile as though you're really happy
And I'll pretend to believe you and we'll get by
And sometimes I know this will all come to haunt us
Sometimes I can't help but break down and cry

Tomorrow it storms and there'll be no rainbow
Yesterday the sun sank never to rise
Somewhere there's a boy with eyes so beautiful
Glistening with tears he never cries

Somewhere there's laughter that's real
But I don't think I remember the sound
Six empty bottles and now we won't feel
Everything's been lost and nothing's been found

Somewhere she loves him and somewhere he knows
And somewhere the truth is exactly as its told
And somewhere we're happy enough to know we've been sad
And sometime we'll realize we've lost what we've had

You know there's something I'm not telling you
I know my stories are built of a lie
Sometimes your eyes are so sad I can forget
That I'm the one who knows how to cry

And she loved him more than anything else
And he knew it and somehow that was enough
But that was yesterday and then sun's never rising
They don't make rainbows for unrequited love

They don't make rainbows for people like us
