When The Spotlight's On You

Round two, but I’m still going
Swing, swing, never miss
Didn’t look both ways, not knowing
I’d get the devil’s kiss
My own joy has made me blind
One punch sent to the face
Stumbled back two steps behind
Put me back in place
Dust my shoulders, no turning back
Just turn the volume higher
Strength and focus are still in tact
My motivations are still wired
Practice, practice, never stop
Slip through bars of impossibility
You know how to reach the top
Win yourself your invincibility
Quitting won’t get you the gold
Dignity and pride raise the stakes
A bid born way too bold
Got to give it all that it takes
When the spotlight’s on you
You can’t show your scars
Hide ones, old and new
And you will go far
Win and never back down
Show them what you’re worth
Go and hold that chin up proud
And never show them the hurt
