a smile

You said you liked it this way
But your heart is telling me otherwise
Could it be that your words of love
Were all but hurtful lies?

Walking down the aisle
To the music that was so sweet
Now it just makes my ears bleed
As tears flow down my cheeks

Everyone stares and thinks
Wow she’s a lucky one
But only if they really knew
The wonders of his gun

Reaching the end of this rose petalled path
Brings shivers down my spine
His words drum heavily through my mind
As poison mixes with wine

Drink up my darling, don’t be alarmed
But the priest never knew what was there
If Only that I could awake
From the dreams that were so clear

Taking a sip of death itself
The cup to my mouth would send
But when it rushed through my heart broken veins
I knew my eyes would never see you again

So while the guests arrive at my doom
They stare, wondering for a while
Never will I laugh again
But baby, I died with a smile
