When that song came on the radio tonight
It brought me back to a time in my life
A time I wish I could go back to, every now and then
A place where we promised on ‘forever friends’
Went to places we never been
Just to feel the excitement of something new
Left the house at 3 am
Because we had nothing better to do
There was that night on the beach
When we talked and talked for hours
Those swings in the public park
We got caught in April showers
That time we went off roading
And barley came out alive
Those are the days I was reminded of
When that song came on the radio tonight
I remember when we used to stay, up all night
Talking on the phone, planning out our lives
We were gonna run away together, leave this town
I don’t know how we did it, when I think about it now
We were gonna be the next big thing
Broadway stars and all
We’d be there for each other, “Catch me when I fall”
There was the church that we snuck into
With our six pack of beer
Those many nights that we snuck out
Defeating all our fears
The convenience store parking lot
Where we got into that fight
Those are the days I was reminded of
When that song came on the radio tonight
That apartment holds some memories
Like breakfast in bed
That truck has even more of them
I'm still surprised that we’re not dead
Midnight backyard bonfires
With Rolling Rock and Don
Some lighters and some shot glasses
Sprinklers going off in the lawn
The movie theater we went too
We snuck in most of the time
The long road down Twin Oaks
We would walk down at night
The houses we snuck into
And got wasted off our minds
The red Hondas that used to save us
It got us home every time
The cars we stole the hearts we broke
The times when we were young
The risks we took the lies we told
Sixteen was about having fun
The dreams we had the goals we shared
“Best believe I’m number one”
Throwing our lives down the drain
Pushing everything out of sight
These are the things I was reminded of
When that song came on the radio tonight.
