Dreadful Dreams

Once my eyes are shut and my mind seems blind,
I enter the world of empty thoughts and new experiences that I find.
I count my blessings for this a good night sleep,
But as for every night so far I wake up in a weep.
For when I set to rest I drift into memories that haunt,
The strongest will and the clearest mind it will daunt.
These dreams are not dreams at all,
But nightmares designed to make you fall.
To wound your heart with old mistakes,
And to remind you of all those smiles that were only fakes.
These dreadful dreams stick to everyone’s mind,
They are held in control of our lives and make us all unkind.
They make us hold the horror of things we have done,
We become malicious and we forget the meaning of fun.
At young ages we become old,
We forget who we are and we turn cold.
The dreams stop coming but there’s no turning back,
In our lives there will always remain a crack.
