I see you look at me when you walk in the room,
Know every line on your face so well,
You're my oldest friend in so may ways,
So many things I have to tell.

You're a different person when we are together,
You smile and you talk a lot,
But when we're with your family something is wrong,
You may have told me but I must have forgot.

It's like there's two of you,
I can't fix them although I have tried,
Two halves that just won't make a whole,
A Jekyll to your Hyde.

I sometimes wish you weren't so complex,
But that's the Ettie I love,
My best friend,
A locket I can't fix,
My angel from above.
