a dark tunnel deep inside
scary things run and hide
moldy misty and mildew
surviving will be few
water trickles down it’s sides
a snake shivers as it glides
cold stone floors go deep within
color gray, color of tin
can’t see much, humans fear
you can’t see only hear
stalactites, stalagmites
nothing here seems right
bats and critters fly
groaning walls let out a cry
rocks fall down
the waters rise
the sun tumbles from the sky
the darkness covers all life
pain and hurt in the strife
cold and clammy is the air
trapped inside no one to care
tunnels winding through and through
came a draft as the wind blew
need for matches
no cold catches
no light seeps through sturdy walls
nothing but the silence calls
crashing down into the water
stricken fear none get hotter
cold sweats as you’re lost
disappearing without a cost
starving and cold you mourn
longing for an open door
none will come to save you
for there is nothing they can do
