One Chilly October

Remember when sorry was enough.
When waking up and smiling wasn't so tough.
Remember when your simple touch caused a smile.
And just to hear you laugh made my stupidity worth while.

Remember when make-up was never a necessity.
When being just us was the most we should be.
Remember when I was yours and you were mine.
When things really were just fine.

Remember when pain was measured with band-aids.
When your bed time was your only date.
Remember when a kiss was a big deal.
Remember our first and how it made you feel.

I remember how you were and how it used to be great.
I remember all the "I love yous" and always sneaking out late.
Now all I'm left with is the choice to remember.
Remember you and me one chilly October.
