Old, empty houses

Old, empty houses
Stand as testaments
Of a time long past
Their silent halls filled
With shadows and dust
Where once laughter and voices
Hold their place

Memories live within their walls
Of lives who once walk
On their unrotten floors
Some will wept
For their loss of life
And disintegrate over time

Others will descend
Into a eternal slumber
Waiting for the next soul
Who will stay within
Their dark vacant rooms
And flood their halls
With life again
