"Damn These American Nights"

Alone, lost in the dark
Crying for the death of my heart
I'm looking to the sky
Thinking maybe she's looking tonight
I hold onto these pictures of her
And oh how it hurts
I'd give anything to hold her in my arms
To feel her charm
But i wont, and thats hard to swallow
Turns my world hollow
She walked out on me
Left me be

She called me on the phone
Said baby sorry to leave you alone
But you see
You just aren't good enough for me
She said baby
I just gotta leave

Damn these American nights
I wish these eyes
Had seen the light
And let go of the fight
(American nights)
Don't let it die
I never meant to make her cry
Damn these American nights

I remember that night in the rain
When she kissed my face
She said I'm gonna love you forever
And you better not say never
She screamed at the sky
This ones mine for all time
She looked more like an angel than a girl
She put the color back in my world
If only i could have found the right words
To make it work

She called me on the phone
Said baby sorry to leave you alone
But you see
You just aren't good enough for me
She said baby
I just gotta leave

Alone, lost in the dark
Crying for the death of my heart
I'm looking to the sky
Thinking maybe shes looking tonight

Damn these American nights
I wish these eyes
Had seen the light
And let go of the fight
(American nights)
Don't let it die
I never meant to make her cry
Damn these American nights
