Instant Death

Broken bottles spread cross the floor
Prescriptions empty from the night before
A child lay dead on a tiled bathroom
White powder like substance, cocaine they assume
Blood Splatter on the bedroom mirror
how could one do this to a child so dear
Someone else's blood on a knife
i suppose the mother that took her life
On the wall no pictures of the child anywhere
One with no pictures must not really care
In the child's room
nothing but a single chair and a place to groom
No papers no documents nor an ID
for the investigators to be able to see
As the day gets hotter
a man comes in and says hes the father
Two men listen to what he has to say
as they look at him in such dismay
When the man says "I wasn't even there for her one last breath"
The doctor says "you couldn't it was instant death"
