I am the sinner

Lies. Secrets. These were my sins
Which is worse, which cuts deeper
Lies to protect the secrets
The secrets cause the lies
These were my sins. I am the sinner

She told me her secret, without lies
Her tears flowing as free as her words
She trusted me, believed in me
She was sinned upon
Happy family was the lie

Why didn't I tell her my secret then
Open up to someone who knew
My secret was just as bad, just as horrid
Instead I kept the secret, chose to lie
Its not a sin to be the victim

Years go by, many secrets, many lies
She sees the truth, finds out my sins
Sins of the father revisited
I lose all I hold dear
I lose myself in the secrets, the lies
