All Hail Our Murder

And you said, “I love you all”
No, you don’t, you don’t love me
Your use of that word is so achingly casual
It’s killing me yet you barely notice
You know what you’re doing to me
But this time is different because
This time I’ll just simply walk away
You’ll stare blankly, waiting for tears
But I shed them not in front of you
I’ll cry not because of you but for you
For what you have lost and will lose
Your blind cruelty that you send as if reflex
It will get you nowhere and I regret that
So many have died in your clutch
It’s only too soon until you’re alone
Inside you are a never-ending lover
But it’s too late for kisses, they’ve spoiled
You say you ‘love us all’
When you kill us in the mist of night
A lover you are no longer
All bow down, all hail the royalist
The most deathly of murders
