War - Friends or Foes

I pointed the gun to his head
The other targetting his heart
As racing thoughts zoomed in and out
Replayed the end and start

If only we met a different day
Perhaps bumped in some bar
We could be friends instead of foes
Laughing, drinking, inhaling some tar

We could have eaten together every sunday
Or met every other afternoon
But here we are, crime opposing crime
One shall and must kill the other so soon
