Living Love
Love is a power impossible to comprehend,
Much less predict or evade.
Love promises much,
And gives much more,
Until it is taken away.
It progresses through many stages:
It has its Ups and downs,
Mountains and Chasms,
All Seven Heavens
And the agony of Five Hells.
We are told to “Live life to its Fullest”
And that we “Haven’t Lived until having Loved”
But Living means Dying,
And Loving with all our hearts
Means being shattered beyond repair.
Few are the people
Who have no reservations,
We all tend to keep a bit for ourselves
Wincing away from giving all away
A form of self-preservation.
But maybe that’s why
We lose our loves,
Maybe that’s why we die.
Maybe if we could just find a way
To trust completely a stranger?
Then that stranger would become not so strange,
And Learn to Love us too?
But maybe that stranger
Keeps wincing away,
Then what are we to do?
But maybe that’s why
We lose our loves,
Maybe that’s why we die.
Maybe that’s why we Quest all our lives,
To find the one to whom we will never say goodbye.
