My Angels

In this dark place I am lost,
In this cramped room I am alone,
I have tried to help at all cost,
While trying hard to atone.

I never was a child,
Death’s touch has done that to me.
Compared to some life is mild,
But its effect is not hard to see.

However there are two,
One is of a golden blond
The other a russet hue,
Whom my taxed heart has grown fond.

Their warm, soft arms hold me,
Melting away my icy heart.
Their kind words comfort me,
Helping to give me a fresh start.

One has held me when I cry,
With an infective laugh and grin
She gently brushing my tears dry,
And makes me feel better again.

The other is like no one else,
Showing me love, strength and kindness.
She has been through her own hells,
So she helps and ignores my gruffness.

Though both are younger then me,
They are my strength and hope.
Even with fears that some may not see,
To me they are earthbound angels.
