Bitter Attraction

The speakers are cracking walls
They’re crumbling, pieces tumbling
To the same place where my heart falls

Party continues, blurry view
The middle of the crowd, voices boom loud
And sweat seeps out right on its cue

Beat of lust, a buzzing bee
Drowns the drums into the numb
Because since when did love come free?

While perfection points my way
”She’s not right,” words always bite
I won’t listen to what they say

Eyes join in a bending lock
I’m closing in, just say when
Ignore hands ticking on the clock

Your stare could give STDs
Make me positive, I’ll give
You something worse than a disease

Choke my hand with yours and I’ll
Blush so red and tilt my head
Brick by brick you’ll build me a smile

We’ll talk and hormones will attack
Under stars, we’ll claim them ours
And then you’ll never call me back
