Goodbye

For the longest time
I remembered fleeting moments of our happiness
Memories became dreams as they drifted away
I thought it was you who pulled them away
I thought it was you, who ran away from me
But then I realized, it was not you…
Those fleeting memories were dissipating because of me
No longer, can I hold onto our monument of love
I had made a choice long ago without knowing
That this, our love would cease to flourish
No longer would that rose of our love grow
But the white, pure petals
Would eventually wilt and die.
So now, I must bow out
I must give my thanks, and let my hand slide from yours
You must begin your new path, as I tread mine.
I will not wait any longer, or help you to your feet
I have finally found my own ground
Now you must find yours without me.
And as you watch me walk away
Savor and bask in those fleeting memories
Before they crumble and become our past
And walk boldly to your future.
Goodbye dear heart, I bid thee farewell.
