Second Chance

Throughout boyfriends and x-boyfriends
You were there with a special something,
Although then we were nothing more than friends,
I felt my break up was with perfect timing.

I had always felt somewhat of a connection
Between the two of us-
But it hadn’t come to my attention
Until our legs and feet first touched.

You began to send me signs
So of course I sent them back,
It was like you read my mind
When you knew just how I’d react.

As I counted down the days
Until we’d finally be together,
I found out that you went another way,
And I felt my heart would be hurt forever.

Yet just recently,
A whole five months later-
You’ve apologized repeatedly
With a heart and love to offer.

In return all that you ask for
Is a simple second chance,
So I gave you my heart once more
In hope for true love and romance.
