Remember me

So wow, you've finally made it
You're where you wanted to be

Eighteen years of waiting,
full of sadness, depression and frustration,
and here you are now, a proper man.

A man, yeah, you're now grown-up,
you have the full responsibility

And when you leave and start everything new,
will you ever look back and think about how it used to be?
Everyone you used to know,
all the things you used to do,
everything around you

Will you remember me?
The girl that used to hold your hand,
the one that hugged you,
worried about you,
listened to what you said.
The one girl that cried for you,
The girl that tried to help you when everything went wrong

That girl, that always believed in you,
the one that really cared

Was all this ever a part of your life too,
or was it just mine?
Sometimes I really wonder whether you ever think about me,
whether you really care as much as you say,
whether I am the only one feeling this way.

Maybe one day, when you are all alone in your new home,
you might take some time and think about me,
about how it used to be

So go, have a nice time,
live your new life,
and do what you want.
You're cool now, you're free,
just never forget how it used to be
