The Truth

The fires of love
do brightly blaze
sparks igniting
in the strength of our gaze

hands, hearts, and minds
were thick with desire
love called me out
and made you a liar

All love did
was make me a fool
for you can't love
because you're too cool

You got what you wanted
that one quick fuck
Now all I want
is to be hit by a truck

Who is the true fool
you ask me to say
Not me, for I can love
and I do it everyday

The true fool is the one
who now lives by dying
your effort is a joke
because you think you are trying

You see through clouded eyes
disguising your pain
but all the drugs in the world
couldn't remove that stain

This problem you created
will follow you all through your life
It will pop up unexpectedly
bringing you pain and strife

You threw away
your one chance to be free
the goal was achievable
but it was through me

Think of me, years from now
while you lie in a hospital bed
your life will be ending
so remember the things I said

I truly loved you
though it was my mistake
You apparently couldn't love
so all you were was fake

Imagine the adventure
you could've had with me
instead you're stuck lamenting
everything you'll never be

I will always be
the one who got away
with so much life to live
how could I possibly stay
