The Silence of Youth Left With Unspoken Truth

I breathe in and pretend that I have pride
Smiling like nothings wrong, like I've never cried
I won't let you know you hurt me beyond a few tears
So I'll pile on the make-up looking in the mirror
I look at you and say I'm ok, I'll be fine
While my heart is breaking with every spoken line
Here's to good-bye for old times sake
I kiss you on the cheek and my lips start to shake
I walk away holding my head desperately high
I walk faster as I slowly begin to cry
But you just stood there with your eyes unfocused and your head shaking
Neither one of us stopped to realize what a mistake we were making
Two broken hearts left in the silence of youth
Nothing can fix this except the heart-breaking truth
