I think the story's all but dead
the audience has gone away
too many lines were left unread
so let's pull curtains on this play

oh! how your act still seemed sincere
even without the faith truth brings
but all the ques I didn't hear
left me alone behind the wings

if I ask to hear things
it's 'cause I'm untrusting
and looking for some honesty
but know I read too well
to need to have you spell
out every detail for me

we have scripted every scene
and though you keep your story vague
there are spaces to see between
and a good view from just offstage

after the first act tragedy
I bet you hoped I'd walk away
'cause you can't help but lie to me
'cause part of you wants me to stay

if I ask to hear things
it's 'cause I'm untrusting
and looking for some honesty
but know I read too well
to need to have you spell
out every detail for me
