I saw Your play tonight...
oh how the audience saw You,
in a different light

that captivating smile of Yours
that I saw when I would cry
gesturing Your eloquent hands
that once made me bleed

I still trembled, my love, my Master

You had them enthralled,
but not in chains, as I was
You had their applause,
louder than my tears ever were

I tasted Your power as they never would
but still You seemed a god before them

I slipped out quietly, while they still worshiped You
the clouds were still in the darkened sky
and held no sympathy for me

you are an unforgiving deity, my Lord
but I will ever think of You with a prayer on my lips
